Inter Milan have already gotten most of their summer transfer business out of the way, but two major variables remain.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper note that departures of Marko Arnautovic or Denzel Dumfries could alter the Nerazzurri’s plans.

Technically speaking, the summer transfer window has just opened in Serie A.

Yesterday marked the official opening of the window, at the start of July.

But that certainly does not mean that Inter have just started their work as far as bolstering their squad this summer. Far from it.

Inter already secured two big name signings as early as the start of 2024.

The Nerazzurri will be bringing in Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi on free transfers. The pair’s contracts with Napoli and Porto respectively have now expired.

That left one major area in which Inter wanted to intervene. They prioritized signing a new long-term goalkeeper this summer.

And it looks clear that Genoa and Spain keeper Josep Martinez will be the signing in that respect.

It is a matter of “when” rather than “if” the Spaniard’s move to Inter becomes official.

Inter Get Summer Transfer Business Done Early – But Two Variables Remain

The arrivals of Zielinski, Taremi, and Martinez constitute significant reinforcements for Inter.

And all of this has been done before the start of the transfer window.

Therefore, Inter’s main objective over the rest of the summer may be to keep things quiet on the sales front.

The Nerazzurri certainly don’t want to lose any big name players over the next two months.

But there are two names in particular that could still head for the exit door.

One is striker Marko Arnautovic. Inter would listen to offers for the Austrian, and could move for Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson if he is to depart.

And then there is wingback Denzel Dumfries.

The Dutchman’s current contract with Inter expires at the end of next June.

Inter want to either extend Dumfries’s deal, or else sell him this summer while they still can.

If Dumfries leaves then Inter will certainly sign a replacement. Reportedly, Bologna’s Dan Ndoye is their main target in that respect.
