Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni admitted that Napoli deserved to win the Scudetto last season.
During last night’s Gran Gala del Calcio ceremony, Bastoni delivered his verdict on the 2024/25 Serie A title race, via FCInterNews.
Napoli won their fourth Scudetto by the skin of their teeth last season.
Indeed, Antonio Conte beat his former club to the punch in one of the most dramatic title races in recent memory.
For context, the Partenopei finished only one point clear of Inter, denying the Nerazzurri their 21st top-flight title.
Despite failing to win a trophy in Simone Inzaghi’s last season in charge of the club, Alessandro Bastoni never ceased to amaze.
Furthermore, the 26-year-old went from strength to strength in 2024/25, cementing his reputation as one of Serie A’s best defenders.
Therefore, it’s barely surprising that he entered the division’s Best XI for last season.

Bastoni was one of Inter’s five players to receive awards during last night’s ceremony.
In addition to the Italian defender, Denzel Dumfries, Lautaro Martinez, Federico Dimarco, and Nicolo Barella were also there.
“It had been an intense season,” Bastoni maintained. “Congratulations to Napoli.
“When a team wins, they always deserve it. Now it’s a new season, and we want to fight for all our objectives.”
Despite undergoing a managerial change in the summer, Inter are likely to fight for the Scudetto until the final day of the season.
Indeed, Cristian Chivu has exceeded expectations at the beginning of his tenure, keeping the Nerazzurri firmly embroiled in the title battle.
With only a point separating Inter from table-topping AC Milan, another season-long fight for Serie A glory appears to be on the cards.
Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri’s pursuit of another league title will take a quick break this midweek, as they take on Venezia in the Coppa Italia.
