Inter Milan star wingback Federico Dimarco admits his recent form has failed to live up to his high standard.
During today’s pre-game conference via FCInterNews, Dimarco also previewed tomorrow’s clash against Slavia Prague.
Federico Dimarco has been in and out of the starting line-up at the start of the new season.
Indeed, the 27-year-old has often traded places with Carlos Augusto, who’s been in sublime form.
However, new manager Cristian Chivu still views the Italian ace as a key figure in his system.
Meanwhile, Dimarco came off the bench against Cagliari last weekend and chipped in with a crucial assist.
He set up Francesco Pio Esposito for the second goal at the Unipol Domus, which landed a knockout blow on Cagliari.
Therefore, he will probably regain his place on the wing tomorrow, when Inter take on Slavia Prague in the Champions League.
Despite Inter’s status as pre-match favorites, he expects the Czech champions to give the Nerazzurri a run for their money.

“I think Inter arrives in good shape, having won three games in a row,” Dimarco admitted. “We need to aim for a fourth.
“Personally, I’m regaining the confidence I had lost recently. Through matches and training, I’m trying to improve the situation.
“We always talk about the past… When we won the Scudetto, we said we shouldn’t dwell on the past anymore. So we need to keep that mindset.
“We started well against Ajax, and we have to continue like that.”
Furthermore, Inter are unbeaten at San Siro in the Champions League for almost three years.
“We always try to approach every match in the same way, but the Champions League is different,” Dimarco stated.
“It’s much harder. You face teams of world-class quality. And when we’ve slipped up, it’s usually been because we looked too far ahead.
“By going one match at a time, we’ve achieved great results, and we have to keep doing that.”
Then, he warned Inter against underestimating Slavia.
“We must not underestimate the opponent,” he said. “Slavia are strong, they’ve been winning their league for many years.
“They defend man-to-man, so we need to be smart in breaking through their pressing.”

Dimarco has not been at his best in the early stages of the season. However, he is steadily regaining sharpness and confidence.
“I didn’t say I had a complete lack of confidence,” he added. “I said I was missing a bit of confidence on a personal level.
“Then, I realized I hadn’t been performing as well as in the last three and a half years. Now, with the help of the coach and my teammates, I’m coming out of it.”
Meanwhile, he delivered his verdict on the beginning of Chivu’s regime at Giuseppe Meazza.
“You can only really train for matches by playing them,” Dimarco said. “The more you play, the more your condition improves.
“As I’ve always said over the years, when I was coming off in the 60th minute, it was mathematically impossible to grow into peak condition.
“This year I’m improving because I’m playing many more minutes.
“We’re looking to play more vertically, but we’re not losing the foundations we had in the past.”
Inter performed well against Cagliari, which helps restore confidence.
“I agree, we played a great game in Cagliari, which is never an easy place to play,” Dimarco said. “But we don’t have to start from there because we also played excellent matches before, like against Juventus.
“We didn’t win, but played at a level we hadn’t reached in years in Turin. We just need to keep going like this.”
Finally, he admitted that the new signings have already adapted to the new surroundings.
“The new signings are all settling in well,” he claimed. “We’ve brought in quality players who will help us throughout the season.
“But above all, I want to stress that they’re great men. Even if they’re not starting right away, they still give their all for the team.
