Inter Milan have lowered their asking price to Hakan Calhanoglu to €30 million, with Ederson and Angelo Stiller at the top of their shortlist of replacements.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that Nicolo Rovella and Morten Hjulmand would be less likely targets.

Hakan Calhanoglu’s situation is now the big uncertainty in Inter’s summer transfer window.

It is no secret that Galatasaray want to sign the 31-year-old. Reports of the Turkish champions’ interest emerged right around three weeks ago.

And rumours suggest that Calhanoglu actually wants the move. And he could even push to make it happen.

While Galatasaray are ready to offer Hakan Calhanoglu a big money contract, they are less inclined to spend big on a transfer fee.

Reportedly, the Istanbul giants are even hoping to pay just €15 million. That would be far below Inter’s demands, reportedly in the ballpark of €35-40 million.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, though, Inter may not hold out for quite that match.

The newspaper anticipate that, should Calhanoglu come to them and ask for the transfer, the Nerazzurri will try to meet Galatasaray in the middle.

Therefore, the Gazzetta report, Inter’s asking price for Calhanoglu would be around €30 million.

Meanwhile, Inter are not waiting around for the conclusion to this will-he-stay-or-will-he-go saga. They are preparing for life without Calhanoglu in case he does indeed head for the exit door to join Galatasaray.

According to the Gazzetta, two names sit at the top of Inter’s targets to replace the Turk.

One would be that of Atalanta midfielder Ederson. The Brazilian would cost a fee of around €50 million.

Then, reports the Gazzetta, in-demand Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller is also high on Inter’s list of targets.

On the other hand, the Gazzetta anticipate, there are a couple players who would be less likely to join the Nerazzurri despite persistent links.

Even with his release clause, Nicolo Rovella would be a tough player to move for. This owes to the, putting it euphemistically, prickly relationship between Inter and Lazio President Claudio Lotito.

Similarly, the rapport between Inter and Sporting CP is not a positive one following Joao Mario’s controversial transfer to Benfica in 2021.

Therefore, it would be tricky for Inter to try and negotiate for Morten Hjulmand.
