Twelve months on, the picture is more complicated.

His contract runs until June 2027, but Inter have yet to open renewal discussions, and the reasons are both technical and physical.

A stop-start season disrupted by injury has prompted the club to take stock before committing to any long-term extension.

According to Tuttosport, if Galatasaray were to make a formal approach in the coming months, Inter would be open to listening.

“The transfer negotiation for his renewal is on standby, partly due to a season in which injuries have taken their toll,” the outlet writes.

“If they were to knock on the door in Viale della Liberazione in the coming months, a discussion could take place, even at figures more contained than those imagined in the past.”
