Inter Milan reportedly have big plans in store for their young prospect Francesco Pio Esposito. The young man is currently thriving while on loan at Spezia.
The 19-year-old is the youngest of three siblings who rose through the club’s ranks.
His older brother Salvatore is currently his teammate at Spezia, having signed for the Ligurian club on a permanent basis. On the other hand, Sebastiano sealed a move to Empoli in the summer, and it includes an option to buy.
Nevertheless, Inter are clinging tight to Francesco Pio whom many consider as the most promising of the Esposito bunch.
According to Il Secolo XIX via FcInter1908, club president Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio have every intention of maintaining the teenager.
The source adds that the youngster’s future was part of the discussion in yesterday’s meeting between Inter director Dario Baccin and Spezia sporting director Stefano Melissano, even though Nicolo Bertola was the main topic.
As the Genoa-based newspaper explains, the Nerazzurri hierarchy would like to give Esposito the chance to prove his worth with the first team next season.
With Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa both running on expiring contracts, there could be one or two slots available in Simone Inzaghi’s department for next season.
Esposito would also fit the bill for Oaktree Capital. The Nerazzurri owners have implemented a policy that focuses on young players who have rising market values.
Moreover, his youth-product status would be a boost for the club’s lists in both Serie A and European competitions.
This season, the Italy U21 starlet has made 11 appearances in Serie B, scoring six goals in the process.
He has been one of the best performers for Spezia who are gunning for Serie A promotion. The Aquilotti currently sit third in the table.
