Inter Milan manager Cristian Chivu does not care about the media pressure ahead of tonight’s Champions League game against Ajax.

Speaking to InterTV via FCInterNews, the Romanian coach put Inter’s interests ahead of his own.

It has not been a start Cristian Chivu would’ve wanted.

Despite humbling Torino on his Serie A debut, the 44-year-old has since overseen consecutive league losses.

Indeed, Udinese and Juventus bested the Nerazzurri in the last two Serie A rounds.

In doing so, they’ve thrown Chivu’s future at San Siro into the corridor of doubt.

However, tonight’s match in Amsterdam could help the under-fire tactician turn his fortunes around.

It’s a huge occasion for Chivu. For context, it will be his touchline debut in the Champions League.

Though the stakes are high, the former defender is reluctant to let the pressure get the better of him.

Instead, all he cares about is leading Inter to victory in their opening European game of the season.

Chivu is no stranger to Amsterdam. Indeed, he spent three years there, between 1999 and 2003, before moving to Serie A.

“I arrived here as a young player, and this club has made me more mature,” he claimed. “It changed the way I see life, both personally and professionally.

‘But I’m not thinking about myself. I’m thinking about the match.

“It’s the first Champions League game, and for us, tomorrow it’s important to perform well and win the game.”

Chivu won the Champions League title during his playing career.

However, replicating that success as a manager is a completely different challenge.

“It’s an important competition that must be respected because it’s one of the best and strongest around,” stated.

“I believe it’s the pinnacle at the club level, and deserves undivided attention.

“You have to be ready, delivering good performances to have a chance to reach our objectives.”

Asked what fans can expect from Inter today, he answered: “That they step onto the pitch to win, nothing else.”
