Simone Inzaghi insists injury-hit Inter Milan will need a ‘great’ performance to beat Feyenoord at De Kuip this evening.

Speaking to Prime via FCInterNews, the Scudetto-winning manager warned his team of the Dutch side’s intensity.

Inter Milan avoided a knockout playoff round in this season’s Champions League courtesy of a fourth-place finish in the league stage.

Furthermore, the defending Serie A champions only conceded once in the first eight matches.

Coach Simone Inzaghi can be proud of Inter’s defensive resilience on the continent’s grandest stage.

However, there’s no room for complacency, especially given Feyenoord’s air of invincibility on home soil.

Though heavily fancied to advance into the quarter-finals, the Italians must not disrespect Feyenoord.

Indeed, Robin Van Persie’s men have been impressive on home turf this season.

For context, AC Milan and Bayern Munich slumped to defeats at De Kuip without scoring.

Therefore, Inzaghi urged Inter to be cautious against the Eredivisie outfit in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

Simone Inzaghi Warns Inter Milan of ‘Very Intense’ Feyenoord

“It will certainly be a tough match in this stadium, with this atmosphere,” Inzaghi explained.

“We know we’ll need to put in a great performance.

“We know they play with great intensity.

“I think they could line up with four forwards. They will be very aggressive.

“We need to be smart, knowing that matches can change in an instant.

“They will be intense, and we need to match that.”

Meanwhile, Inzaghi reiterated his trust in Alessandro Bastoni, who’ll play out of position this evening.

Indeed, with Federico Dimarco nailed to the sidelines with an injury, Bastoni will deputize on the left wing.

“He’ll play a bit wider than usual, and there will be moments when we defend with a back four,” Inzaghi confirmed.
