Inter Milan Owned Striker On Spezia Loan Spell: ‘Big Step Up From Youth Team Football, I’ve Grown Here’ | OneFootball

Inter Milan-owned striker Francesco Pio Esposito feels that playing on loan at Spezia has been a “big step up” and he’s grown.

The 19-year-old spoke to Cronache di Spogliatoio, via FCInterNews. He opened up about his journey in Liguria after coming through Inter’s youth ranks.

Striker Pio Esposito came through Inter’s youth team academy.

The young striker has always looked like a player with a lot of potential.

The teenager has the combination of physicality and technical ability to lead the line and provide a team with a reference point in attack.

And at youth team level, Esposito was always prolific.

Last summer, Esposito joined Spezia on loan from Inter. This was to be the Italian youth team international’s first experience in senior football.

Esposito started regularly for Spezia across his first season at the club. He certainly became an important part of the team in attack.

However, the teeneger found the back of the net just three times in Serie B last campaign.

That was a far cry from his goals in Inter’s youth teams.

So far this season, however, Esposito has already equalled last season’s total. There is a sense that he is really starting to find his feet.

There was some interest from teams in Serie A in signing Esposito over the summer.

However, the decision to return to Spezia was made on the basis that it would allow the teenage striker to keep becoming comfortable with the senior game.

Thus far in the campaign, it looks like that choice paid off.

Of his time at Spezia, Esposito noted that “The first season I was here I had to settle in.”

“The step up from the Primavera to Serie B was very big,” the teenage striker said.

Then, Esposito noted that “I’ve grown here.”
