Inter Milan President Part Of Informal “Commission” For Italy National Team After EURO 2024 Disaster | OneFootball

Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta will be part of an advisory commission to steer the Italy national team after EURO 2024.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

The atmosphere surrounding the Italian national team is, putting it mildly, not positive at the moment.

The Azzurri have just bombed out of the Euros, in a 2-0 defeat. If anything Italy were flattered by that scoreline.

Italy came into the Euros as reigning champions.

And the Azzurri did at least manage to avoid the humiliation of bombing out of the group stage.

However, doing so required a dramatic late equalizer in their final group stage match against Croatia, following three fairly unconvincing performances.

And it only delayed the disaster, as Italy exited the tournament against Switzerland over the weekend.

Italian FA President Gabriele Gravina knows that a reaction must be swift.

There are big questions surrounding coach Luciano Spalletti, the playing style, and the possible need of a squad refresh.

And then there are questions of how the national team coordinates with Italian clubs.

Beppe Marotta To Be On Italy Advisory “Commission”

As part of planning for a future revamp, Gravina is ready to call on the experience of several veteran Italian football executives.

Unsurprisingly, one will be Inter President and CEO Marotta.

Marotta has been working in football for over four decades. And the 67-year-old’s record with Sampdoria, Juventus, and now Inter speaks for itself in particular.

Marotta’s work at Inter over the last half-decade led to owners Oaktree Capital naming him as the new club President last month.

Meanwhile, Juventus Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli, formerly of Napoli, will also be part of the “commission.”

Also helping to steer the Italian national team will be Bologna Technical Director Giovanni Sartori.

Lastly, the Corriere reports, there will also be veteran former Udinese, Atalanta, and Napoli executive Pierpaolo Marino.
