Inter Milan defender Tomas Palacios could join Monza on loan this month.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that a rules change could allow the Brianzoli to sign the 22-year-old.
Palacios is one player whose future Inter have been considering during the January transfer window.
The Argentine signed for the Nerazzurri last summer.
Inter signed Palacios for the future, rather than as a player to make an immediate impact.
So far, Palacios has not really staked a claim for himself in the Inter lineup. Unlike Yann Bisseck last summer, the young defender still remains on the fringes of the team.
Inter’s plan was always to have Palacios training with the first team over the first half of the season.
But in the January transfer window, the Nerazzurri could send him to a different team on loan. This would be in search of regular playing time.
Monza have already expressed an interest in signing Palacios.
The Serie A relegation-battlers are looking for defensive reinforcements this month.
Initially, it had looked as though the rules around player appearances would make a loan to Monza impossible for Palacios.
The Argentine has already made appearances for both Independiente Rivadivia and Inter this season.
However, the rules have changed.
Players cannot feature for three different clubs in a single calendar year. However, the appearances for Independiente Rivadivia were in 2024.
