Unable to adapt to the Aspmyra Stadion’s artificial turf, Inter fell to a 3-1 loss in the first leg of this Champions League playoff tie.

However, the runaway Serie A leaders recovered confidence on Saturday as they beat Lecce 2-0 to move ten points clear at the summit.

Still, Inter’s recent results at Europe’s top table have been far from impressive.

Indeed, Chivu’s men have lost four of their last five continental fixtures, including two on home turf.

Regardless, Cristian Chivu believes Inter can turn this tie on its head.

Confidence stems from the fact that they’ve won their last three competitive games at San Siro, netting an eye-catching 11 goals in the process.

Though Lautaro Martinez won’t be available to support his teammates, Inter still possess enough attacking firepower to pierce Bodo/Glimt’s defense.

Marcus Thuram will be eager to end his prolonged Champions League scoring drought, adding extra motivation to shine in El Toro’s absence.

Meanwhile, Francesco Pio Esposito will be eager to finish what he started in Norway last week.

Pio netted Inter’s sole goal in the first leg, recording his second Champions League strike of the season.

“Everything is possible,” Chivu said before the game. “It all depends on us, our determination and our attitude. We’ll need balance, but everything is within reach.”

Then, he explained his decision to give Davide Frattesi the nod ahead of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Petar Sucic.

“Like everyone else, he’s an added value. He showed that in the past and at times this season as well.

“He has overcome the difficulties from the first part of the campaign and now he must contribute to the cause.”
