Inter are preparing to reinforce and rejuvenate their defence, potentially as early as January, with Nathan Ake, Marc Guehi and Dayot Upamecano amongst the names linked to the Nerazzurri.
With the club’s finances finally back in the black, the Nerazzurri could look to move sooner than planned to modernise a backline that has started to show signs of fatigue.
As reported by Il Giorno, via FCInter1908, the focus is on “raising the wall again” and lowering the squad’s average age.
Current defenders Francesco Acerbi, Matteo Darmian and Stefan de Vrij are all coming to the end of their contracts.
Inter’s latest accounts show a €35 million profit and a 37% revenue increase, meaning a defensive signing in January is financially feasible.

Among the targets are Nathan Aké, who could leave Manchester City in search of more minutes ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The Dutchman is under contract until 2027.
However, he has struggled for regular time under Pep Guardiola.
Inter face competition from Juventus and Crystal Palace, where another name on the Nerazzurri list, Marc Guehi, is playing.
Other profiles under consideration include Dayot Upamecano (Bayern Munich), whose renewal talks have stalled.
Serie A options include Mario Gila (Lazio), Oumar Solet (Udinese) and Tiago Gabriel (Lecce).
