Inter Test the Waters for Highly-Rated Tottenham Duo | OneFootball

Inter have landed on Djed Spence in their search for a new wing-back, and the name of Cristian Romero came up during the talks with Tottenham, as he’s eager to leave, Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta).

The English international is enthused by the potential move, since he has to compete with Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie in London. He’d cost halfway between their two previous targets, Marco Palestra and Anan Khalaili. He has totaled 85 appearances with the Spurs, scoring twice and providing 3 assists. The 25-year-old already spent a season in Serie A on loan at Genoa, featuring 16 times, but he wasn’t bought out.

Inter will weigh whether to make a splash for Spence, who’s had a solid World Cup, while they’ll have to get creative to acquire Romero. The center-back appreciates the destination. He cut his teeth at Genoa and Atalanta in Italy. However, his price tag is massive, around €50M. Barcelona could join in after selling one of their defenders.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham value the wing-back at about €40M. The Nerazzurri will assess whether they could get the Argentine on an initial loan, thus diluting the disbursement as much as possible.

Our Take on Inter Eyeing Spence and Romero

The former has nice twitchy traits and arguably untapped potential, as he hasn’t been a regular for a long time. Still, it seems that their chase is running in circles and that they were willing to spend really big only for Palestra. The latter would be a great choice for any side searching for a defensive stalwart. However, any suitor needs a big assist from the player and the sellers, as the costs are prohibitive.
