Harvey Elliott has long been seen as one of Liverpool’s brightest sparks, but his performances at the European Under-21 Championship have ignited far more than admiration. According to The Express, the 22-year-old’s heroics for England in Slovakia may have handed Liverpool a conundrum — and potentially a windfall.
Elliott’s tally of five goals, including a decisive brace in the semi-final against the Netherlands and a cool early finish in the final, helped England to a 3-2 victory over Germany. “The ex-Fulham star also played a key role in the Three Lions’ second with an excellent pass, and his performance was another which caught the eye.”

Such international form rarely goes unnoticed. Brighton, West Ham, RB Leipzig and even Fulham are reportedly circling. “Brighton, West Ham and RB Leipzig are among a host of clubs to have been linked with Elliott, though a return to Craven Cottage has not been ruled out either, with Fulham also in the running to secure his signature.”
Despite interest, Liverpool are not open to a bargain sale. “Liverpool will only entertain offers in excess of £40million for their No. 19.” Given his recent exploits, that figure may prove conservative, particularly with the market’s tendency to overheat around youthful talent.
The club’s strong hand is bolstered by Elliott’s contract situation and the clear trajectory of his development. He may have had limited Premier League starts, but his technical quality, drive and tactical flexibility remain valued traits.
Elliott made 28 appearances in all competitions last season, many as a substitute. Yet, he was often the one to inject purpose and creativity when things grew stale. Arne Slot, Liverpool’s new manager, will have to judge whether selling Elliott — a player still maturing but already influential — fits into his rebuild.
“Elliott’s performances may have also planted a seed of doubt in the mind of Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who could decide against allowing the versatile playmaker to leave the club.”
While there is no doubting Elliott’s potential, the key question remains whether any suitor will match Liverpool’s valuation. The fee will rise if he continues on his upward curve, but for now, suitors must weigh the price of promise.
It’s hard not to be excited watching Harvey Elliott in this kind of form. His energy, vision and eye for goal in Slovakia were exactly what Liverpool fans have been waiting for. He looks like a player ready to explode — not just as a squad option but potentially as a starter.
Selling him now, especially for the mooted £40million, feels premature. That price may have made sense a month ago, but post-U21 Euros, it feels light. If Arne Slot is smart, he’ll build around this lad. His cameo appearances last season did not reflect the progress he’s clearly made. With the right support, Elliott could be a central figure for Liverpool next season.
There’s also the risk of watching him shine elsewhere — much like Conor Gallagher at Chelsea or Jude Bellingham before his Madrid move. Liverpool have been burned by letting talent leave too early. This one should be different. Keep him. Use him. Trust him.
