Frenchman, Regis Le Bris, arrived at the Stadium of Light back in June to fill the vacant managerial role, and has already become a popular figure among the Sunderland faithful. He has inherited an incredibly young squad, full of talent, and there is optimism this season that the club can go on and achieve promotion.

Their opening fixtures have increased the optimism even further as, on the first weekend of the season, they pushed aside Cardiff City with a 2-0 away victory.

The following weekend then saw them dominate Sheffield Wednesday and pick up a comfortable 4-0 victory in front of the boisterous Stadium of Light crowd.

There is real excitement surrounding Sunderland, Regis Le Bris and his high-potential squad at the moment, but the new manager must try and get the best out of every single player in order to succeed. That may have to involve sending a player or two out on loan in order for all of his young stars to thrive.

One player currently linked with a loan move away from the Stadium of Light is young winger, Jewison Bennette.

According to The Tilehurst End, League One Reading are aiming to sign Sunderland's Jewison Bennette on a loan deal for the duration of the season.

The 20-year-old has struggled for game time at the Stadium of Light and will likely continue to struggle as the Black Cats aim for promotion to the Premier League. It is vital that Bennette plays regular football, so a move to League One would be the perfect opportunity for him.

The winger has got plenty of experience at international level, having made 15 appearances for Costa Rica and representing his nation at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, coming up against Germany, Spain and Japan in the group stages.

As for club football, he is still a little experienced and is yet to really work his way into Sunderland's first team. His only appearances this season so far have been a cameo in the Carabao Cup and a start for the Black Cats' u21s against Newcastle.

At this stage of his career, he needs to be playing regular first-team football, and Reading will be looking to offer him that in League One if they can secure a loan deal before deadline day.

The Royals have started their season well, having picked up four points from a possible six, and with the departure of key player, Femi Azeez to Millwall, they would certainly welcome the talented Bennette with open arms.

With the Black Cats having incredibly talented wingers on the books, such as Jack Clarke and Patrick Roberts, it is tough for Bennette to get into the team, so a loan deal makes sense for his development.

FLW's Sunderland fan pundit, Eddy Bamber, recently spoke on the importance of of Bennette receiving regular game time elsewhere, and was full of approval in terms of sending him to Reading.

"It will be intriguing to see how he gets on. He has reportedly struggled to adjust to life in England and found learning the language particularly difficult, apparently."

"Reading's manager, Ruben Selles, is Spanish so he could play a vital role in his development."

"He certainly has the talent to shine in League One. If he can perform there and bang the goals in, he can prove to Regis Le Bris that he does deserve another shot at Sunderland, so we shall see."
