Ipswich Town have completed the signing of Dutch goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen from Union St. Gilloise, with the 26-year-old putting pen to paper on a four-year contract.
Reports suggest the Blues will pay an initial £8.5 million for Scherpen, with a further £2.5 million in performance-related add-ons and becomes Ipswich's sixth signing of the summer.
Scherpen arrives after an impressive spell in Belgium, where he kept 16 clean sheets in the Pro League last season - more than any other goalkeeper in the division. He also gained valuable Champions League experience, featuring in the group stage in each of the past two campaigns.
The Dutchman began his career at FC Emmen before earning a move to Ajax in 2019. He later had spells with Brighton & Hove Albion, Vitesse Arnhem and Austrian side Sturm Graz, while also representing the Netherlands at youth level and receiving a senior call-up. Ipswich will hope his experience can strengthen their squad ahead of their Premier League return.
