Ipswich Town have agreed a deal to sign Manchester City youngster Luca Fletcher before the close of the window.
Ipswich Town have experienced a very busy summer transfer window, and it looks to be finishing in the same manner, too, with the Tractor Boys now close to signing Manchester City youngster Luca Fletcher.
Kieran McKenna’s side have returned to the Championship following their humbling relegation from the Premier League last season as one of the red-hot title favourites.
However, they have stuttered at the start of this season and required a last gasp penalty scored by Jack Clarke to secure a 2-2 draw against Derby County at Portman Road over the weekend.
That result means that Ipswich remain winless in five matches across all competitions so far this season, and they could do with hitting the ground running after the transfer window.
They have seen plenty of new signings come through the door in Suffolk, with David Button joining on a free transfer from Reading before the loan addition of Cedric Kipre from Stade de Reims.
Azor Matusiwa then signed from Stade Rennais before the arrivals of Ashley Young, Jens Cajuste, Chuba Akpom and Kasey McAteer before a flurry of additions late last week.
Ivan Azon has signed on loan from Como, with Darnell Furlong, Marcelino Nunez and Sindre Walle Egeli all joining from West Bromwich Albion, Norwich City and Nordsjaelland respectively.
Now, on the final day of the window, the Tractor Boys look set to bring in what would be their 12th signing of the summer, with the arrival of Fletcher from the Cityzens.
According to Fabrizio Romano, via his X account, Ipswich Town have agreed a deal to sign Manchester City youngster Luca Fletcher.
It has been reported that the 18-year-old will move to Portman Road on an initial loan deal but with an obligation to purchase next summer.
Romano has also explained that the deal includes a buy back clause for City, as well as a sell-on clause, with Fletcher now seeking first-team football.
The Reading-born striker, who joined Manchester City in 2023, has yet to make a professional appearance for the club. He has been capped 20 times by England at U16 level and then U17 level.
The final day of the transfer window is expected to be another busy one for Ipswich, but primarily in terms of outgoings, with a few players leaving for regular football.
26-year-old centre-back Luke Woolfenden has been linked with Coventry City for the last few weeks, and it has now been reported that he is undergoing a medical ahead of a move to the midlanders.
As well as that, Iraq international striker Ali Al Hamadi is said to be closing in on a loan move to Luton Town, which also involves an obligation to buy next summer.
Lincoln City are set to sign Fin Barbook on loan from Lincoln City, according to Ben Jacobs, who also reports that Ireland international Chiedozie Ogbene is set to join Championship rivals Sheffield United on a temporary basis, too.
