Anel Ahmedhodzic's future at Sheffield United is uncertain amid interest from three Premier League clubs

Ipswich Town are in advanced talks with Sheffield United for Anel Ahmedhodzic.

According to Football Insider, the Tractor Boys are trying to take the initiative in the race to sign the centre-back.

Ahmedhodzic has been linked with a move away from Bramall Lane in recent weeks, with a number of clubs mentioned as potential next destinations.

The 25-year-old has been a key figure for the Blades since joining the club from Malmo in the summer of 2022.

The defender made 31 appearances in the Premier League last year, as Sheffield United suffered relegation to the Championship (all stats from Fbref).

It is believed that Ipswich are currently leading the race to sign the player, but no agreement has yet been reached between the two clubs.

Wolves have reportedly been unable to meet Sheffield United’s asking price due to financial constraints, despite selling Max Kilman to West Ham earlier this summer in a deal worth £40 million, via the Guardian.

It was reported earlier this summer by The Sun that Sheffield United are seeking £20 million for the defender, although it remains unclear if this is still their asking price.

Ahmedhodzic has started both of the Blades’ first two Championship games this season.

Despite a tough season in the top flight, Ahmedhodzic’s performances still stood out in an otherwise poor side, which has led to uncertainty over his future with the Yorkshire outfit.
