Kieran McKenna has been linked with potentially replacing Graham Potter at West Ham

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna was spotted visiting the West Ham boardroom last weekend amid speculation he could replace Graham Potter.

According to Football Insider, the Northern Irishman was invited by the London outfit as the team lost 3-0 to their local rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Potter’s position is under pressure after a dismal start to the new Premier League campaign, with the team earning three points from their opening four fixtures.

West Ham have now conceded eight goals between their two home games so far this season, having also lost 5-1 to Chelsea at the London Stadium in August.

It has been reported that McKenna was invited by West Ham to the match amid speculation he could be in line to replace Potter as manager.

However, the Ipswich boss is not the only man in the frame for the possible position, with the Hammers hoping to turn around the team’s form quickly.

It has been claimed by Football Insider that both Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo could take charge if Potter is sacked.

The two Portuguese coaches are also out of work at the moment, which would make them significantly more attainable than McKenna.

It remains to be seen whether the 39-year-old would be interested in making the switch to West Ham, with Ipswich aiming to earn promotion to the Premier League this year.

However, what is clear is that it’s being reported that McKenna was in attendance for his former employer’s 3-0 win over West Ham on Saturday evening.

He was previously a coach at both Spurs and Manchester United prior to taking charge at Portman Road.

McKenna’s enhanced his reputation massively with the Suffolk outfit, leading them to back-to-back promotions since becoming manager in December 2021, before the club suffered relegation from the top flight last year with a 19th place finish.

West Ham situation is a worry for Ipswich Town

Losing McKenna would be a massive blow for Ipswich given the impact he’s had at Portman Road in the last four years.

It’s no surprise that Premier League clubs are considering him as a possible appointment given the great work he’s done with the Tractor Boys.

This West Ham situation will leave supporters nervous, although the possible competition of Mourinho and Nuno could be their saving grace.

That the two managers are also both out of work could help sway West Ham towards bringing in one of them instead of pursuing McKenna, who will likely cost at least seven figures to pry from Ipswich.
