Isac Lidberg has joined Borussia Mönchengladbach after links to Benfica, leaving Marco Silva’s side short of options up front.
The 27-year-old forward has been unveiled by the Bundesliga club after a productive season with second-tier Darmstadt. Fabrizio Romano reports the fee is €3.5 million plus €1 million in add-ons, with a contract running to 2030.
Lidberg scored 17 goals and provided three assists in 33 appearances. Despite his form, Darmstadt missed out on promotion, finishing fifth in the second division.
Capped twice by Sweden and not called up for the 2026 World Cup, Lidberg now steps into the German top flight, although Mönchengladbach will not be in European competition.
Benfica are continuing to assess centre-forward options for Marco Silva. Pavlidis has been linked with Besiktas and Como.
