Alexander Isak is returning to England and is set to resume training with Newcastle United, per The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
The 25-year-old has been training alone at Real Sociedad’s headquarters after refusing to join the Magpies’ pre-season tour of Asia.
Isak has been actively pushing to leave St James’ Park this summer amid interest from Liverpool.
The Premier League champions recently had a £110 million bid rejected for the Sweden international.
They will not submit another offer unless Newcastle change their stance.
The Magpies have attempted to tie the striker to an improved contract, but he is not interested in staying at the club.
Isak is currently regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe. He scored 23 goals in the Premier League last season, second only to Mohamed Salah.
Newcastle do not want to sell, but they risk keeping an unhappy player for next season. The Tyneside club are trying to line up a replacement for Isak.
They submitted a £70m bid for Benjamin Sesko, which RB Leipzig rejected. Manchester United are also keen on Sesko, who is considering his options.
