Bayern Munich go to Inter needing to overturn a 2-1 deficit if they are to stand a chance of playing this season’s UEFA Champions League final at their Allianz Arena. Thomas Müller scored what he thought was an equalising goal, but Davide Frattesi secured an important win for Simone Inzaghi’s side with two minutes remaining.
Speaking at Tuesday’s press conference, Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany recognised the scale of Wednesday’s knockout clash. “It’s the best team in Italy against the best team in Germany at the moment,” said the Belgian. “Both stadiums are also among the best there. It doesn’t get much bigger than this. The quality and talent are there too.”
Both Bayern and Inter top their leagues and Kompany called for focus at the Giuseppe Meazza. “It’s not just about the first few minutes. It can last 90 or 120 minutes. These are two teams with a lot of experience and international players. Every player knows what’s at stake,” added Kompany.
