Ferran Torres was inarguably the Man of the Match as FC Barcelona defeated Real Betis at the Estadio de la Cartuja. He scored a hat-trick and helped his team win with a 3-5 scoreline in this goalfest of a match.

With this hat-trick, the Spaniard took his goal tally to 11 goals in 16 matches in La Liga. However, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Barcelona forward made it clear that this number does not mean a lot for him:

“You don’t score a hat-trick every day, but the fact that I have 11 goals doesn’t mean much to me. I knew I could be a starter at Barça, fight for a spot, and I’m going for many more goals. My job is to keep making it difficult for the coach.”

In addition to his own performance, Torres was also quite happy with the team’s win over such a tough opponent:

“What’s most important, of course, is winning at such a tough stadium. As I always say, Betis is a direct rival at the top, one of those teams that makes it very difficult, and we knew we had to compete from the first minute. It was very important to win, and we managed to react after their early goal. I think the key was that reaction to the first goal. That’s one of our strengths.”

One of the more notable aspects of this game was Lamine Yamal’s position, who played as an attacking midfielder. However, Torres revealed that this was not something Flick had tried during training in the last week:

“I don’t think so, but he’s such a talented player that he just takes that position and does well. A player like Lamine adapts easily to any situation.”

There is no doubt about Yamal’s quality. However, in this match, it was Ferran Torres who took most of the spotlight, and with this performance, once again made a strong case for a starting spot in Hansi Flick’s lineup.
