Italian journalist Paolo Paganini explains why he thinks Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri will end up at Fiorentina next season.
The 67-year-old has only just returned to the Biancocelesti last summer, signing a three-year contract. However, his relationship with club owner Claudio Lotito is far from idyllic. The two men have been involved in back-and-forth media squabbles over the past few weeks, with the tactician expressing his dissatisfaction with the club’s transfer strategy, and the patron reminding him that he’s in charge.

Moreover, Sarri has sided with Lazio’s organized fan groups who have protesting against Lotito, describing it as ‘an act of love’, although he’s been urging them to return to the stadium. Therefore, the manager’s future at Formello is far from certain at this stage.
In his latest appearance on Radio Firenze Viola (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Rai Sport journalist Paganini discussed the managerial situation at Fiorentina, tipping Sarri to reunite with former Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici next season.
In my opinion, the next Fiorentina coach will be Maurizio Sarri, because he’s a profile that Paratici likes a lot. The latter had a big hand in Sarri’s arrival to Juventus (in 2019). He’s a coach with whom we can start a new era.
Fiorentina had a calamitous start to the season under Stefano Pioli, finding themselves at the very bottom of the Serie A table. Their results and performances have noticeably improved with the arrival of Paolo Vanoli, but they’re not out of the woods just yet, as they remain in the relegation zone.
Even if Vanoli guides them towards safety, Fiorentina are still expected to appoint a new manager in the summer, especially with Paratici recently taking charge of the sporting department. If Sarri were to be hired, this would almost be a homecoming for the Tuscan manager, who grew up at Figline Valdarno, a region on the outskirts of Florence.
