Ivan Zazzaroni has slammed the so-called ‘Marotta League,’ insisting that the Inter Milan chief cannot be accused of holding a monopoly in Serie A.

Speaking as a guest on the podcast Numer1 via FCInter1908, the Corriere dello Sport director shared his opinion on the so-called ‘Marotta League.’

Beppe Marotta has firmly established himself as one of the most accomplished sporting directors in modern Serie A history.

Indeed, the veteran executive played a pivotal role in restoring Juventus’ dominance following the infamous Calciopoli scandal.

Between 2010 and 2018, his leadership helped the record-time Italian champions secure an unprecedented seven consecutive league titles.

However, in 2018, he decided to cut ties with the Turin giants and join fierce rivals Inter Milan.

Despite changing clubs, Marotta has never deviated from his modus operandi.

Known for his careful spending, he has turned Inter into a formidable force, using minimal investments to assemble a star-studded team.

As a result of his exceptional work, the Nerazzurri have won two league titles in the last six years.

Furthermore, Cristian Chivu is now on the verge of leading the club to its 21st Scudetto, with Inter boasting a 10-point lead over AC Milan.

Marotta’s vast success has led to widespread recognition and influence within Italian football.

However, it has also fueled a bizarre conspiracy theory. One named on social media as Marotta League.

Still, Zazzaroni doesn’t share the same opinion. In fact he rubbishes it.

“If there really exists such a thing as Marotta League, the culprits are the other directors who let a distinguished director with 40 years of experience, to do what he wants.

“Marotta does his job which is to maintain relationships,” Zazzaroni claimed. “He doesn’t influence the referees. He works well to serve his interests. As do the others, they build their relationships too.

“I’m fed up with this Marotta League stuff. The problem is that you shouldn’t insinuate these things to people, instilling this fear which always exists in Italy, that there is always one powerful person [who controls everything].

“Either the other directors don’t know how to do their jobs and leave him free to act, or enough of this.

“I’m tired of receiving messages on Marotta League.

“Nothing will happen in 10 years time and we wont discover anything. ‘Marotta shouldn’t be this powerful’ they say when he’s lost two Scudetti in the last three years as well as two finals.

“You can see that this doesn’t apply outside of Italy.”
