The race to sign Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee (24) is heating up, according to a report from Franco-Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The Dutchman arrived from Bologna highly rated in the summer of 2024, but he endured a difficult debut campaign at Old Trafford as Manchester United struggled. This season, he faces even fiercer competition for game time, given the arrivals of Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko, and Matheus Cunha.
Given his limited game-time prospects, Zirkzee is looking to leave Old Trafford during the upcoming January transfer window. Tavolieri previously reported that Zirkzee had been offered to West Ham United, with the Netherlands international keen to remain to the Premier League.
But a return to Italy could also be on the cards for the former Bologna forward. AS Roma have opened talks with the striker’s agents. Zirkzee would have to take a salary cut if the move was to come off, something that he has expressed a willingness to do, in order to get his career back on track. AC Milan are also interested in the player.
