He had only played for five minutes last term as he suffered a serious hamstring injury after recovering from knee surgery.

He had scored his latest goal on May 2024, 455 days before last night’s game.

“These are the moments I’ve worked so hard for. I went through some difficult months, but every training session was aimed at coming back on the pitch to help my teammates,” Scamacca told DAZN via TuttoAtalanta.

“There’s a bit of regret for the draw, but the performance was positive, and we have to build on that.

“I feel motivated, but I keep my feet on the ground. I want to keep improving and score important goals. It’s been a long wait, and now my goal is to keep going.”

Will he aim to return to the national team?

“I just focus on giving my best and being the best version of myself. If I help the team, personal satisfaction will follow automatically,” Scamacca concluded.
