Jeremy Jacquet has called his transfer to Liverpool a 'big dream' after completing his move to the club.
Liverpool agreed a deal to sign Jacquet from Rennes earlier his year for a fee in the region of £55m.
The centre-back's transfer has now officially been confirmed and he will link up with Andoni Iraola's squad for their pre-season schedule.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Ligue 1 last season, before a serious shoulder injury prematurely curtailed his campaign.
Jacquet will add to Liverpool's centre-back options, following the departure of Ibrahima Konate to Real Madrid on a free transfer.
The Frenchman said he already feels settled at Liverpool and called the challenge of moving to the Reds a 'dream' come true.
He toldLiverpoolfc.com: “I feel really good, the first impressions are good and I am very happy to start here.
“I am very happy. When I see the facilities, I can see myself there. I feel good here and I am very excited to get started.
“For me it’s a big dream, it’s a big club. A club like Liverpool, it’s a big dream for me.”
Jacquet has become Liverpool's second signing of the summer, following a €40m deal for Osasuna winger Victor Munoz.
The young defender is set to partner Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk at centre-back, with the latter recognised as one of the world's leading defenders.
Jacquet said he is keen to soak up the knowledge of the Dutch defender as he bids to improve his game.
"Of course, I’m really excited to line up alongside a great player like him. I think he’s up there with the best centre-backs in the world currently, so I can only learn from him.
"I don’t like using the word ‘idol’, not even for the best players I admire. But naturally, he’s a player I look up to. As far as I’m concerned, he’s one of the best centre-backs and if I want to reach the very top I’ve got to absorb as much as I can from him, obviously."
