Premier League legend Alan Shearer believes Enzo Maresca will be under big pressure if Chelsea lose to Liverpool.

The Blues welcome the defending champions to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League.

Chelsea have lost their last two league games, whilst Liverpool have lost their last two games in all competitions, with both sides showing signs of vulnerability.

The Blues returned to winning ways in the Champions League with a hard fought win against Benfica, but will have to play much better if they are to get the three points on Saturday.

Chelsea have been handed a boost with Liverpool number one Alisson set to miss the game with a hamstring injury.

The Blues ran out 3-1 winners in this fixture last season, although Liverpool were in celebratory mood having already won the title.

A defeat for Chelsea would consign them to three league defeats on the bounce, and Shearer believes Maresca would be under serious pressure if that were to happen.

“It’’s a great game,” he said as quoted on X.com.

“Liverpool can’t lose three on the spin, they’re the defending champions and pre-season title favourites – and if Chelsea lose three league games on the spin, Maresca is under huge pressure as well.

“I’ll probably sit on the fence because of the importance of both teams not losing the game.

“Prediction: Draw”
