Things appear to be moving quickly for one Liverpool target.
The Reds are heading into a hugely important summer rebuild in the wide attacking areas, and the need for reinforcements is of the utmost priority.
The biggest issue, of course, is the departure of Mohamed Salah. After years of carrying Liverpool’s attack with goals, assists, and decisive moments, his exit leaves a massive void on the right-hand side.
Replacing a player of Salah’s quality is never straightforward, but Liverpool cannot afford to stand still after losing their most dependable attacking outlet.
Especially because the club's depth in this department was already poor. The Reds sold Luis Diaz last summer without a genuine replacement.
That decision has left Liverpool short of natural wide options for much of the campaign, forcing the coaching staff to rely on makeshift alternatives or deploy players outside of their strongest positions whenever Salah or Cody Gakpo have been unavailable.
As a result, Liverpool’s attack has often looked unbalanced and predictable. The team has lacked consistent pace and directness out wide, making it easier for opponents to stay compact and limit space in dangerous areas. Too often, Liverpool have struggled to stretch defences or create one-versus-one situations that can open games up.
This is why signing wingers, yes plural, is the most important next step in the club's evolution.
Liverpool require at least two top-level additions capable of transforming the attack on both flanks. They need players with speed, creativity, technical quality, and the ability to consistently deliver goals and assists at the highest level.
Of course, the Reds will have to be careful. There isn't a bottomless pit of supply when it comes to finances. After spending £450m last summer, while also selling a lot of players, Liverpool are still in a good position.
But given the fact that they need reinforcements in other areas of the pitch, they will need to balance and seriously consider how best to spend the money they have available.
This summer, the Reds will likely be making less purchases like Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, and instead going back to doing what they do best - finding the bargains of the market.
When it comes to wingers, there is an obvious option, and it looks like Liverpool are accelerating a move to sign him.
Bazoumana Toure has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield. The club's scouts have been impressed by his performances and now Ekrem Konur reports on X that Liverpool have reportedly made their move for the Ivorian.
According to him, Liverpool have made contact to sign the winger from Hoffenheim and an offer of €40m could secure the deal.
That would be an absolute bargain for a player of his quality. At only 20-years-old, Toure has the potential to go really far. He made 17 goal contributions in the Bundesliga this season and is making great strides.
As we mentioned, Liverpool need pace, and Toure is one of the fastest players in the Bundesliga. He has clocked in a top-speed of 36.24km/h and regularly reaches the 36km/h mark which makes him an incredibly fast player.
He would be the fastest player in the Liverpool squad.
For a player of his age and quality, this move would be a bargain. This is the kind of stuff we like to see. Liverpool being clever again.
