Jamie Carragher is Sky Sports’ go to man when it comes to the Premier League, and it was really interesting to hear his take on the Enzo Maresca situation on Monday Night Football this week.
The former Liverpool player was pretty clear in his statements that he thinks Maresca may have already talked himself out of a job.

It was unclear who Maresca was speaking about in his comments initially when he said he had had a lack of “support,” but once we all knew it wasn’t the fans or the media, there was only one group left – those above him at Chelsea.
“It’s not uncertain [who he is speaking about], he’s speaking about the owner and the sporting directors<2 Carragher said.
“I think this is a classic case that we see at a lot of clubs now where you have a head coach, not a manager, and sporting directors.
“What you get is the coach comes initially and agrees to the terms and conditions, but then he feels like he’s done a really good job, and he’s done a great job getting Champions League football last season, winning a European competition and winning the Club World Cup.
“But the problem for Maresca is if he continues like this, there will only be one winner, and it’s not him.”
Chelsea are doing a festive series of features on their websites where they ask players for their best Christmas memories, and while Benoit Badiashile isn’t much of a raconteur, he did have some sweet things to say.
Maresca did his best Pep Guardiola impression after Chelsea’s win over Cardiff in midweek, claiming he was “very happy” while looking anything but. It was as unsettling as you could imagine…
