New Southampton boss Ivan Juric was in the crowd for the draw against Fulham. It's now been revealed what he was spotted chanting during the match.
Southampton recently travelled to Craven Cottage. While picking up a draw wasn't the most convincing result in the world, it was ultimately a good point for the Saints, given how the game panned out.
The most important thing is that it gives new manager Ivan Juric a pedestal to push-off when he takes charge for the Boxing Day fixture against West Ham United.
Certainly, Juric learned a lesson, and he appears to have liked what he saw at the weekend.
According to a report from BBC Sport, Ivan Juric was seen chanting during the match against Fulham. He offered words of encouragement to his players, shouting "come on guys, come on guys."
Despite Juric's best efforts to rally up his new set of players, the home crowd did not allow for his transition to the Premier League to be an easy one. In the typical English fashion, they bantered him in return, with chants of "he can't hear you."
Ivan Juric will certainly be excited to take control of this Southampton side. He has already offered some strong words of encouragement to the Southampton team, according to Aaron Ramsdale, but he will be in full control of the next match.
The plan for Southampton was to have Juric on the touchline for the game at Craven Cottage. Lo and behold, there was a delay in his ability to obtain a work permit. Therefore, Juric was forced to watch on from the sideline.
Weirdly, this was criticised by Jamie Carragher, live on air. Despite the restriction not being any fault of Juric's, he has already been introduced to the scathing English media, who expect perfection and nothing less.
Nobody can deny the scale of the job which Ivan Juric has on his hands. The Croatian manager is not naive, so he knows the position which Southampton are in and what is expected of him to get them out of the position going forward.
However, that will come in due time. At this point, it's good that Juric is applying a supportive approach and it's clear that he wants the team to succeed, even if he wouldn't have been applauded at the weekend. Let's see how well he does at working with this team.
