After making 131 appearances and scoring 45 goals for Germany, Thomas Müller announced his international retirement following the European Championship in 2024.

On Thursday, appearing on MagentaTV, the Bayern Munich legend and current Vancouver Whitecaps player was asked if he could imagine coming out of retirement for Germany – and delivered a trademark humorous response.

“I generally enjoy theoretical scenarios. I’ve got my football boots with me,” Müller said with a laugh, before making it clear he sees “zero” chance of playing for Germany again.

“If he (Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann, editor's note) calls me, then he’s lost it and really has a problem.

"How many players would have to be out? Like 15 attackers?” he added.

Müller has been a big hit since joining the Vancouver Whitecaps, scoring 11 goals in 22 games for the MLS side.

He will appear on MagentaTV as a pundit during this summer’s World Cup.
