Leeds United Women return to Adobe Women’s FA Cup action on Sunday, hosting West Bromwich Albion Women in the third round.
Simon Wood’s side are coming into the clash off the back of a 3-2 win away at Norton & Stockton Ancients Ladies in the FA WNL Division One North, thanks to goals from Izzy Elliott, spot-kick from Kath Smith and a 90th minute own-goal from the Norton ‘keeper.
Ahead of the game, Elliott said: “I'm feeling really excited going into the game this weekend. Obviously, we know what we need to change and work on from last time we played, but coming off a win this weekend, we're already in high spirits and feeling really positive.
“These types of games are where you learn the most from, especially against a team that we've played previously,” the defended commented on West Brom. “Unfortunately, we lost on penalties, but we fought for the full 90 minutes and went to extra time.
“It'll be good to go again and know what we need to work on from last time, and how we can put this into our game this time playing at home and hopefully get the win
“It’s good to play higher opposition because it shows where we’re at, and the levels that we want to be able to if we’re able to compete with teams in the league above, which we have already done twice this season. If we can continue doing that, that just proves that we are very much capable and being in tier three.”
On her personal aspirations, Izzy said: “Coming back from injury is quite tough, but having all the support from the girls has been amazing. Having them by my side all the time and obviously starting the past few games and obviously grabbing myself a couple of goals as well, it's a really good confidence boost.
“I want to keep on pushing on and getting more wins.”
