Jaka Bijol has been named in Slovenia's squad for June friendlies, becoming Leeds United's ninth senior call-up of the summer, according to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk.

Slovenia missed out on 2026 World Cup qualification in November, losing 2-0 to Kosovo then drawing 1-1 with Gabriel Gudmundsson's Sweden. They will face Cyprus in Ljubljana on June 4 before visiting Croatia on June 7.

The 27-year-old has impressed in his first Leeds season after a £15million move from Udinese. He waited until late October for a Premier League debut, then featured in all but five league games thereafter.

He made 25 Premier League appearances, scoring once with a powerful header against Chelsea in November, and supplying two assists. Farke's switch to a back three suited him, thriving centrally between Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk.

Reflecting recently, Bijol said it had been an amazing season, that he enjoyed every second and appreciated team-mates who kept him upbeat when he was not playing. He added he was glad to have helped them with his performances.

Several Leeds team-mates also have summer duty. Brenden Aaronson has been called up by USA for the home World Cup, with Gabriel Gudmundsson, Ao Tanaka and Noah Okafor selected by Sweden, Japan and Switzerland respectively.

Four others will travel with Wales, Karl Darlow, Ethan Ampadu, Daniel James and Joe Rodon, for friendlies against Ghana and Romania.
