Manchester City may have received a fresh boost to their hopes of signing Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala in a blockbuster deal next summer.

The Germany international is among the leading candidates at the Etihad Stadium as the club’s recruitment staff go in search of potential replacements for the likes of Kevin De Bruyne in the next phase of their midfield era.

With the Belgium international approaching the final months of his existing Manchester City contract, there remains lingering doubts over whether the Premier League champions would rather part ways with the 33-year-old this summer rather than further down the line.

Should that be the case, and De Bruyne took up proposals in the likes of Saudi Arabia or the United States, then Manchester City would no doubt have to invest heavily in his position to make up for the loss of a legendary figure within their organisation.

As such, that could lead the club towards the Bundesliga and a talent that made headlines at the recent European Championships, and continues to lead the way for Bayern Munich under Vincent Kompany this season.

According to the information of T-Online, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester City are the only club named as being ‘in the picture’ for Bayern Munich and Germany’s attacking midfield superstar, Jamal Musiala.

The report claims that the Premier League champions ‘really want him’, and should the player refuse to sign a new contract at the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich officials are being pushed by the website to sell should an offer arrive worth €100 million.

At present, it remains unknown whether Manchester City would be willing to invest such a top-level sum in the talent, despite Musiala being widely viewed as a generational profile within the attacking midfield ranks.

Another name that City could looks towards, and a profile that Musiala is very familiar with himself, is Bayer Leverkusen and Germany international Florian Wirtz, who started his UEFA Champions League campaign with the Bundesliga champions in style this week.

Regardless of whether Manchester City decide to pursue just one of the aforementioned names, or even both, the club would have to invest well in excess of £100 million in order to lure them away from their existing employers.
