It was reported earlier this week that Manchester City had set an asking price of £35 million to sell James McAtee this summer. James Ducker reported for The Telegraph that City had placed the £35 million tag on McAtee in light of interest from various clubs across the Premier League and Europe. Now a new report indicates that McAtee will turn his back on interest from Europe to stay in the Premier League. The young attacking midfielder will be hoping to find a club where he can be offered the opportunities he needs to kick on as a player.
Ben Ransom and Amar Mehta have reported for Sky Sports News that James McAtee has rejected the opportunity to move abroad this summer. Furthermore, Ransom and Mehta report that McAtee has come to that decision after visiting Eintracht Frankfurt in recent days. It is believed that Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Everton all have an interest in signing McAtee this summer.
The expectation is that Manchester City will sell James McAtee this summer. With a move to a European club ruled out, James McAtee’s next move is taking shape. It is now a matter of which Premier League club will meet City’s asking price. The terms for City to sell McAtee have been made clear. It is now up to the interested clubs to come to the party. For McAtee, he will be eager to move to a club that can provide him with a platform to develop as a player. McAtee is 22 years of age and needs regular first-team football. Nottingham Forest, Everton or West Ham could provide him with that opportunity. It now remains to be seen if they will meet City’s asking price to sign the attacking midfielder.
James McAtee’s next move is seemingly edging closer. He wants a move to a Premier League club. There was merit to the idea of McAtee moving abroad. The Bundesliga could have been a good league for him to grow as a player. But he has decided to remain in the Premier League. McAtee has shown he can play at the highest level in England both for City and Sheffield United. Now it remains to be seen which Premier League club will make a move to sign him this summer.
