James Milner started as Brighton won 2-0 at Brentford, becoming the Premier League's outright appearance record holder.
According to L'Équipe, he marked the occasion with personalised boots, the sole stamped with '654', at the Gtech Community Stadium.

He was replaced by Carlos Baleba in the 90th minute and left to warm applause.
Milner had shared the benchmark with Gareth Barry since 11 February but now stands alone.
He has played in the English top flight since 2002, representing Leeds, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Liverpool.
