James Morrison has begun preliminary talks with a couple of West Brom’s out-of-contract players, with decisions to follow in due course, according to ExpressAndStar.com.
Appointed on a permanent basis on Thursday, he will oversee the final Championship match at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday lunchtime.
Contracts are due to expire this summer for Jed Wallace, Karlan Grant, Daryl Dike and Josh Maja, along with goalkeepers Max O’Leary and Joe Wildsmith. It is likely that the majority of that group will depart when their deals end.
He added it would be worked through together and conclusions are yet to be reached.
Club captain Wallace has returned to training and is in contention to feature at Sheffield Wednesday, which may be a farewell for him and some team-mates.
Recruitment will be led by director of football operations Ian Pearce, with new technical director Dominic Price, appointed in March, and head coach Morrison involved in a collective approach.
