Jamie Vardy back at Seagrave, but Leicester return not on the cards | OneFootball

Jamie Vardy’s Instagram video of a workout at Leicester City’s Seagrave base on Friday stirred excitement, but he has already ruled out a 2026/27 return.

LeicesterMercury.co.uk understands that the 39-year-old is only using the training facilities to maintain fitness while he waits for his next club.

Vardy left City over 12 months ago after 11 years and spent the 2025/26 season with Italian side Cremonese. He is a free agent following the expiry of his contract this summer.

The clip showed him completing fitness drills inside the Seagrave dome, wearing the new training kit and speaking with head of fitness and conditioning Matt Reeves.

In June, asked on his podcast about a homecoming for a season in League One, he replied: "Nah, that's gone." He added: "I'll always support them and follow them, that’s the best thing I can do now."

Retirement is not on his mind either. "No, I’m not going to give up playing just yet but it’s something more for later down the line," he said.
