West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen has committed his immediate future to the club after agreeing revised terms ahead of their return to the Championship.
The 29-year-old’s adjusted contract does not extend his existing deal beyond its 2030 expiry date but confirms his intention to remain at the London Stadium.
Bowen’s decision represents a major boost for West Ham as they prepare for their first season outside the Premier League in 14 years following last term’s relegation.
The England international had attracted interest from Aston Villa. They are reportedly considering a move this summer.
However, West Ham maintained throughout the window that their captain was not for sale and made retaining him a priority as they target an immediate return to the Premier League.
The Hammers are set to lose several players following their relegation to the Championship.
Mateus Fernandes completed an £85 million move to Tottenham Hotspur, while Crysencio Summerville has also attracted Premier League interest and could depart before the transfer window closes.
Keeping Bowen provides West Ham with much-needed stability as they reshape their squad for the demands of the Championship.
The forward remains one of the club’s most influential attacking players after recording 11 goals and 12 assists from 42 appearances across all competitions last season.
Bowen joined West Ham from Hull City for around £22 million in January 2020 and has since developed into a central figure for the club.
He has registered 85 goals and 63 assists across 280 appearances for the club while also establishing himself as captain.
His defining moment was in the 2022/23 Europa Conference League final when he scored a dramatic 90th-minute winner against Fiorentina to secure West Ham’s first major trophy in 43 years.
Bowen also previously matched Paolo Di Canio’s club record of 16 goals in a single Premier League campaign.
His performances earned him international recognition, with the forward collecting 22 England caps since making his senior debut in 2022, although he was not selected for the 2026 World Cup.
Bowen’s decision to remain in London sends an important message about West Ham’s ambitions following relegation.
Rather than pursuing an immediate return to the Premier League, the captain will attempt to lead the Hammers back into the top flight.
