Inter Miami lost the Leagues Cup final against the Seattle Sounders last Sunday. Despite the horrible ending for the Herons, the game turned out to be completely different than what the final score shows.

However, this match will go into history for what happened after the final whistle, when players from both teams got into a fight.

Leaving behind the disastrous image created by the action of certain players, Javier Mascherano talked with reporters about the match and how the score isn’t fair, given how the game played out.

Javier Mascherano: “The 3-0 result is too exaggerated.”

During the post-match press conference, the Argentine coach told the truth. When a person looks at the newspapers or websites, and the front page says: “Inter Miami lost 3-0, one tends to think that the Herons were destroyed by the Sounders.

Your first thought is about Lionel Messi, and whether he played like he used to, or if the other superstars performed a decent match. Too many possible criticisms about the team’s performance, but Javier Mascherano calmed things down and explained:

“I think the 3-0 result ends up being too lopsided for what actually happened in the match. The game was much more even.”

The Jefecito isn’t wrong. A review of the game statistics reveals that Inter Miami actually outperformed the Seattle Sounders in several key areas.

According to Inter Miami’s official website, the Herons had 62.4% of the ball possession.

The squad had the same shots, 11, but the Herons were more precise because Andrew Thomas saved five more shots than Oscar Ustari.

Nevertheless, football is not a fair game, and like Pedro De La Vega said: “We won the game in the details”. Once again, this lovely sport proves that if you don’t win in the details, the other one will succeed.
