Jeremy Monga has completed a permanent move to Manchester City from Leicester, with the Foxes banking a joint-record League One departure fee.

LeicesterMercury.co.uk reports that the 17-year-old’s birthday on Friday triggered his first professional deal at Leicester, enabling a fee believed to be about £12.5m. The club are understood to have secured a sell-on clause, with £10m up front and a further £2.5m in add-ons.

Monga had been expected to leave this summer amid interest from leading European sides. He looked set to join Premier League champions Arsenal before a late change in direction.

A Leicester player since the age of eight, he impressed for the under-21s. Ruud van Nistelrooy brought him into the first team and handed him a senior debut in April 2024.

He is the third-youngest footballer to appear in a Premier League match, debuting at 15 years and 271 days, with only Arsenal’s Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri younger. Last season he made 30 Championship appearances, mainly as a substitute, and scored his first senior goal in August.

Monga said Manchester City felt the right choice once their interest emerged, calling them the best club in England over the past 10 years. He noted the pathway from the Academy, highlighting Phil Foden and Nico O’Reilly, and described the move as a privilege.
