Jhon Duran has joined Benfica on a season-long loan from Al-Nassr for €6.1m, with a €30m option to buy. The 22-year-old Colombia international, who has 17 caps and three goals, arrives at his seventh club and his fifth in under two years.
He left Aston Villa for Al-Nassr in late January 2025 in a €76m move on a five-year deal. According to The Sun, he faced a 1,000 km daily commute by plane between his home in Bahrain and Riyadh.
From February 2025 he played 18 times for Al-Nassr, scoring 12, hitting two braces in his first two outings before being sent off in his third. He last featured for the club on 21 May 2025, with Al-Nassr reaching the Asian Champions League semi-finals that year.
Six months after arriving he was loaned to Fenerbahçe, where he made 21 appearances and produced eight goal involvements. That spell was cut short after six months and, despite interest from Lille, he moved instead to Zenit St Petersburg.
In Russia he played only 9 matches, scoring twice. This Benfica move is his third loan, and the Lisbon club face St Gallen of Switzerland in the Europa League second qualifying round on 23 and 30 July.
