Joan Laporta’s presidency at Barcelona recently came to an end, and the former administrator is vying to return to power in the elections scheduled for next month.

He shares a very deep connection with not only the other members on the board but also the manager Hansi Flick and the dressing room as a whole.

One player he adores and has a soft corner for, needless to say, is Gavi. The youngster has battled with poor fitness for a while now, but is at the cusp of a return and is expected to make his return to the field in the coming weeks.

Laporta speaks on Gavi

Speaking to the media in a recent interview, former Barcelona president Joan Laporta spoke out about Gavi’s return from injury and how the youngster is a warrior.

“Gavi has been really suffering since his injury, he has been crying,” he began.

“He would do anything to play, he would play on crutches if necessary,” he added on his passion.

Speaking on Gavi’s return from injury and progress in his recovery, the former president said,

“At Barcelona, we are very satisfied with Gavi’s progress.”

“When someone suffers a serious injury, it is tough for the whole dressing room, but the medical staff, coaches, and his family all worked together to ensure his recovery went as well as possible,” he added.

The Spanish businessman then spoke on the reasons it makes sense for continuity to run in the Barcelona presidency, indirectly asking for members to vote him back to the presidency.

“Barcelona members are asking us to finish the Spotify Camp Nou and keep the current sporting structure, because they are excited about Flick on the bench and Deco in management, and want the project to continue.”

“At Barcelona, we cannot risk someone without experience coming in and destroying everything that has taken us so much effort to build,” he added.
