Joao Neves addressed Ousmane Dembélé’s recent remarks on Monday, stressing collective standards and a calm dressing room ahead of Monaco-PSG in the Champions League.
The defeat in Rennes on Friday finished 3-1. According to L'Équipe, Dembélé spoke minutes later, criticising unnamed team-mates for playing too individually. He said Paris Saint-Germain must show more desire and play for the club to win matches and titles, warning that acting alone on the pitch will not work.
Asked twice about the issue, Luis Enrique replied that there is always plenty of noise around PSG.
Neves offered a measured response, saying the mood in the squad is good, the players are confident and they are ready for tomorrow.
He suggested Dembélé wanted to reinforce last season’s emphasis on teamwork, calling collective play one of PSG’s major strengths that is evident in their performances. He added that when there is something to say to certain players, it is said to their face.
