Aston Villa’s record signing Johan Manzambi is not expected to be fit to face PSG in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday 12 August in Salzburg, The Athletic reports.

The Swiss attacking midfielder suffered a knee injury before the World Cup last-16 win over Colombia, which finished 0-0 then 4-3 on penalties. He has not played since the tournament ended.

Villa signed the 20-year-old from Fribourg for 60 million after a standout first World Cup in which he scored three goals and provided two assists.

He is continuing his rehabilitation in Spain under specialist Jurdan Mendigucha. The Birmingham club have not set a return date, and he is likely to remain sidelined for several weeks.

Villa meet Bayern Munich on Friday in their final friendly. Unai Emery’s side begin the 2026-27 Premier League campaign away to Brighton on Sunday 23 August.
