John Hartson claims Celtic player would be an asset to Rangers

Very rarely have we seen players make the jump from Celtic to the Rangers, and vice versa, over the years. There have been plenty who have played for both Manchester clubs, Barcelona and Real Madrid, and more, but the same cannot be said about the two Glasgow teams. And expect that to remain the case.

That did not stop Kris Boyd from suggesting a potential move to Ibrox for Greg Taylor. The Scottish left-back's contract runs out in the summer and he is expected to be on the move.

Taylor has spent the past six seasons playing for Celtic. But with Kieran Tierney set to make his return to Parkhead in the summer, with a pre-contract deal already in place, chances are going to be hard to come by for the former Kilmarnock man.

Taylor is likely to leave Celtic and move abroad. He has been linked with Dinamo Zagreb recently. But Boyd's suggestion has certainly opened up discussion in the Scottish football circles around the idea of him leaving Parkhead for Ibrox.

John Hartson is someone who knows what the rivalry between the two Glasgow clubs is about, as he enjoys hero status at Celtic. As reported by the Daily Record, he said on Go Radio while discussing Taylor potentially joining the Rangers:

"You know what the city is like, certainly he is a good player. I think he would be an asset to Rangers if he was to do it. That would be the question you would need to ask him, whether or not he would do it is completely up to him."This shouldn't come into it because he is a footballer and he just wants to pursue his career and play every game but it is a big decision for him. He's been at Celtic for what four, five or six years and played 200 games and won so many trophies. That is the call for me whether Greg Taylor is willing to make that switch."

That is certainly a difficult decision to make. It would be almost like throwing his achievements with Celtic away because he would never be fondly remembered by the fans, if he made the switch to Ibrox.

Realistically, there is very little chance that Taylor will decide to join the Rangers in the summer. But then again, nothing should ever be ruled out in the modern game. Let's see what the future holds for the left-back.
