Manchester United have identified their plan A for the goalkeeping position this summer.
The Red Devils entered the market looking for a new goalkeeper but this has been emphasised even more by the injury to Andre Onana.
There have been links to more experienced keepers like Emiliano Martinez, who the club reportedly made a loan offer for at the weekend.
United may also consider a younger goalkeeping options and for that reason, links to Belgian Senne Lammens have also picked up in recent days.
There have also been consistent rumours from Brazil that Ruben Amorim’s side may make a move for Botafoga keeper, Victor.
The 29-year-old impressed in the recent Club World cup in the United States of America and reportedly has a low release clause.
According to Goal.com, “Manchester United considers John Victor a plan A in the transfer market and is in contact with the Botafogo goalkeeper.”
The Red Devils have not yet formalised an offer but are said to be in conversations with the player’s representatives over a switch to Old Trafford.
Nonetheless, he is considered their first choice option to bolster the keeping department and they are “expected to submit an offer to the club in the coming days.”
United have reportedly been in contact with him since December and he is seen as “ideal” for Amorim’s side.
It is also confirmed that Victor would be available for a release clause of US$8 million (£5.9 million).
There were reports that Aston Villa were interested in making a move for the Brazilian and Goal.com does confirm that, “in recent days, the player has received an inquiry from the Premier League, but the priority remains a transfer to Old Trafford. The situation is only expected to move forward after United makes a decision.”
